We have had a few clients ask us about email contacts about the above. Clearly a large number of scam emails exist using HMRC as hook. I cannot comment on a specific email that a company may have received and you should always take care that they are genuine.
But it is clear that BMG Research are a genuine research organisation and this is an area they are doing research for HMRC on. Their website carries details of this particular research. The survey is confidential, it is not an HMRC compliance check for example, and participation is entirely voluntary.
We would encourage clients, once they have established to their satisfaction a contact is genuine, to engage in the survey. Small & Medium Sized Enterprises (SMEs) tend to be less effective at giving feedback to Government in many areas than larger companies and therefore on occasion their needs are not well served. This represents a good opportunity to give your feedback to Government.
